The Ebook has around 280 pages, with approximately 80 recipes which I created, or they stem from family recipes. Chapters cover topics like processing wild foraged edible plants, appetizers, main courses, soups and stews, forgotten foods, homemade delicacies, cakes and desserts and informative texts about culinary traditions. Recipes are labelled for intolerance: vegan, vegetarian, gluten,-and dairy free.
In chapters on foraged wild food and forgotten delicacies I share details about our herbal heritage, spices used in German cuisine and artisan traditions. The book takes a personal look on Germany's culinary culture of the past and present, tracing culinary history and reexamining the roots of produce, recipes, and traditions.
Most of the stunning photographs (see below) have been taken by Croatian artist Nora Novak. Nora has a unique talent for food photography, as NO dish we photographed was sprayed with lacquer, or covered with any weird artificial chemistry to get the looks.
A beautifully illustrated chapter is an encyclopedia of vegetables, fruits, mushrooms and wild herbs in the back, illustrated by young artist and biologist Claire Cook.
